Capital City Airport to Host Biennial Aviation Day

Frankfort, KY – Capital City Airport is proud to announce the return of its biennial Aviation Day celebration, presented this year by DreamFlight Charities, on Saturday, September 20th. This family-friendly event promises a full day of excitement, inspiration, and community connection – all with a mission to ignite a passion for aviation in Kentucky’s youth.

This year’s Aviation Day will feature a thrilling air show, classic and custom car show, all in addition to dozens of static aircraft displays representing the finest of Kentucky’s aviation community and industry. Attendees will also enjoy interactive exhibits and booths from local emergency services, aviation businesses and organizations, and community organizations, offering hands-on activities and valuable resources for all ages.

“We look to make this year’s event more than an air show – it’s a launchpad for something even bigger,” says Drew Underwood, manager of Capital City Airport. “We’re utilizing this event not only to showcase the exciting world of aviation but to build momentum for aviation education efforts that can shape the future of our region and industry.”

Through the support of event sponsors and generous donors, any proceeds raised beyond event costs will directly benefit aviation education initiatives in Franklin County and surrounding communities. These initiatives, organized by DreamFlight Charities, include discovery flights, training scholarships, aviation camps, and even the formation of a student-oriented flight club to launch in August of this year.

Those interested in such opportunities to partner in inspiring and enabling the next generation of aviators can find detailed information on sponsorship and partnership opportunities by visiting the event website at www.aviationdayky.com, which also features a tentative event schedule and listing of activities planned throughout the day.
