DreamFlight’s OpenSkies Flight Club is a unique program crafted specifically for middle and high school students throughout Frankfort and surrounding communities. In addition to providing a creative venue for aspiring aviators and enthusiasts, participating students will also develop essential knowledge for use in the cockpit while also helping them better understand the endless opportunities presented by our growing industry.

AUG 16 | OpenSkies Open House Event
Join us for FREE (with RSVP) for our OpenSkies Flight Club Open House event! Scheduled for 11:00am, we’ll spend time hearing about the current state of Kentucky’s aviation industry, the progression from student to commercial pilot, all while covering the details concerning future club meetings and membership.
But it doesn’t end there! We’ll also have STEM rotations, including a tour of Capital City Airport, flight simulation, and a drone obstacle course through our partnership with the Franklin Center for Innovation Drone Club!
SEP 20 | Capital City Airport Aviation Day
DreamFlight Charities is helping bring the excitement back to Capital City Airport with the return of its biennial Aviation Day event!
Join us for a day filled with thrilling aerobatic performances, a car show, touch-a-truck event, food trucks, live entertainment, and much, much more! OpenSkies Flight Club members are welcome to volunteer and help us make this event the greatest ever!
SEP 27 | Professional Flight
Join us in September as various pilots share their experiences from the world of commercial aviation. Whether flying wildfire or wildlife missions or transporting passengers or cargo, you don’t want to miss out on this unique opportunity to learn from and ask questions of those who have made a career out of flight!

OCT 18 | Emergency Response
Being caught in the midst of an emergency or major disaster can be a scary thing, but you can rest assured that talented pilots and crews are ready to address any and every situation that may arise!
Join us for our October meeting to hear from MedEvac pilots and personnel, law enforcement, and military aviators as they detail the many life-saving missions they’ve participated in and their unique paths to the cockpit – all with a special emphasis on rotorcraft operations!
NOV 15 | Airport Management & Traffic Control
Here at OpenSkies, we want to highlight the endless possibilities presented by Kentucky’s growing aviation network, including those professions that fall outside of the cockpit!
Join us in November as we highlight airport management, operations unique to various fields, as well as the expectations and responsibilities facing our air traffic controllers!
