DreamFlight Charities is excited to announce the development of the Spirit of Kentucky Air Race – a unique event that celebrates the longstanding heritage of aviation across the Commonwealth in addition to the craftmanship of its world-renowned distilleries.
This aerial event will challenge pilots as they navigate a scenic course across the Bluegrass, flying over iconic bourbon landmarks – all in support of accessible aviation education.
This year’s event will originate and end at Capital City Airport in Frankfort, Kentucky on Saturday, October 3rd.
Fly the Spirit
DreamFlight Charities is proud to partner with the Sport Air Racing League (SARL) in providing a unique cross-country race that is both safe and accessible to pilots of all skill levels. Whether you are a beginning pilot or a seasoned aviator, there is a place for your in experiencing The Spirit of Kentucky firsthand.
This year’s event will feature two course options that provide a safe and affordable outlet for the competitive instincts of all pilots, regardless of what aircraft they fly, with aircraft categories accommodating both experimental aircraft looking to push the limits of homebound engineering, as well as factory aircraft from popular and familiar manufacturers.
Registration for The Spirit of Kentucky Air Race is $50 per pilo in addition to either a provisional (single-race) membership with SARL ($40) or full membership option ($150.00).
Celebrate the Spirit
In addition to the day’s race, bourbon and aviation enthusiasts alike are invited to join DreamFlight for The Spirit of Kentucky Gala – an enchanted evening that further cements the bond between two of Kentucky’s longest-lasting heritages.
Final touches are being put on this event at the time of this writing, but event activities will include a catered dinner, bourbon tasting, silent auction – all this in addition to recognizing top race performers. We’re sure to have an engaging lineup of guest speakers too!
